Artist Statement - Franklin

Each image is a culmination of an intuitive journey, often beginning with an ineffable attraction to particular objects. There is a remote feeling that I know which way I am going and I know there is light at the end of the tunnel. Not only the physical form that I am looking for, it’s also the energy it bounced back to me.

Composition of objects then submerged in water with ink and dye, I start my play.

In total darkness I start painting my objects with light. The process is like an installation, much beyond pressing the shutter.

Each exposure lasted more than a few minutes while inks and dye slowly glided through the stagnant pool of dark waters.

This is my interpretation of camera obscura, where images of thoughts are transmitted to the camera in a dark chamber. Lights came on as I knew I am at the end of the tunnel of darkness. Like waking up from the weirdest dream only that I have that particular image in my hard drive.
